to the SUPA Project. Background to Nauru Geographical Setting The Republic of Nauru lies approximately 0.5°S and 167°E. It is a raised atoll with an area of 21 km2 with a maximum elevation of 71m. The island is surrounded by a fringing coral reef between 120 and 300m wide. The highest point on the island is Command Ridge (71m).
